MELODY HOLDING BEAR

Pet Parent Survivors

Pet Parent Survivors was created following the death of my dog Bear, in 2017.

It is devastating and overwhelming when a pet passes away. It is even harder if you are unsure how grief works, and you have no idea if you can survive the loss or how it is possible to get through it.

Each person must decide how to move through the healing process in a way that works best for them.  To make it even more challenging, there are many different types of grief a pet parent may be experiencing. If you are struggling with the heartbreaking death of your pet, and are unsure where to go from here, Pet Parent Survivors can help you on your grief journey.

Testimonials and Reviews

When I lost my Cinnamon on July 1, 2019, from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, I joined her Facebook support group, Pet Parent Survivors. Melody helped me heal from my loss. Her blogs, her kindness, and love meant and mean so much to me. Melody loves all fur babies and has a compassion that most don’t have. I am truly grateful.     — Penelope F.

Most people don’t understand grief until it’s suddenly a part of their life forever. Our pets are our family, and for some are our only family members with us. They become our daily companion and when they leave us, we lose our structure and struggle with following our routine. I met Melody when I had lost my Dog Max to cancer after so many years of him being by my side. Most people wouldn’t understand, but the loss was so great I didn’t know how to move on. Melody was such a great influence on positivity and helping me move forward in life without Max. Melody helped me understand that days can and will be difficult ahead, but that I would not struggle alone. Joining the group of people in her pet loss support group who equally loved their animals, and equally hurting really saved my soul. Melody helps complete strangers move forward in life, when we feel it’s impossible.                         — Elizabeth C.

Melody Moore has been very helpful to me in the loss of our dogs & over the past few years. Her empathy & compassion is admirable. She knows how to offer words of comfort & genuine help. Her postings are very useful & uplifting for pet grief & mourning, for so many of us. She makes time to reply to many that post on her group page. Her help to so many is amazing.    — Deborah S., R.N.

I felt like my world was over when my German shepherd died. Casey had been my best friend for 15 years. After three months, I thought something was wrong with me because I still broke down and cried a lot. I’d never lost a pet before and I didn’t know much about grief. Melody helped me learn how the grief process works, and what to expect. I learned things I could do to make the grieving a little less painful. I will always miss Casey, but Melody gave me the support I needed at one of the lowest points in my life. I am very grateful for her help.      — Robert T.
